CHILD BOOK CHILD APROACH AS A METHOD OF TEACHING!

Pragmatism in education promotes to actively involve the learner in his/her own learning process. Progressive teachers and modern scholars argued that rote learning should be done away with in the teaching and learning situations. Rote learning is whereby the teacher is regarded as the source of learning information and can not be questioned about any information given to the learners.In this type of learning and teaching process the pupils are purely passive recipients of the teacher's bookish information and knowledge.
Contemporary teaching -learning environments condemned a spoon feeding type of education. According to Paul Freire in his book padagogy of the oppressed on page 52,''Truly committed must reject the banking concept ...Adopting instead the concept of man as a conscious beings. They must abandon the education of deposit banking and replace it with the posing of problems of man in their relations with the world."The failure of traditonal system of education is being advocated that learning should be directly involved the learner ,who is expected to participate by exploring and discovery in the learning posed before him/her.
A child should be given ample opportunity to explore certain issues brought before him/her which are felt to benefit him/her. This approach recognises the child as a conscious being who is conscious about his/her environment.
Children would understand the environment as they actively interact with it. It is also believed that when children interact with their environment or learning materials learning would definitely take place.
Application of child book child approach. The first stage of the child is expected to explores and discover things on his own right and this eventually create an intrinsic motivation. This is consciously retained and relieved many times in any situation as being applied spontaneously and automatically. This way the child tries to define what he/she understands by what confronts him/her. After successful collection or gathering of relevant facts on the topic , within his/her own scope and understanding of what is before him. Then the child will further proceed to find out what the society and its elders generally say about the concepts.
The book stage which is the second stage is where the learner is given the topic where to refer his/her findings and have a research on what scholars say on the related topic. There use comparisons of his/her findings ,other collegues' findings and what would be the further readings that will now give a new look in relations that are now being formed.
The final stage of the child again will be the learner's views as a result of these reflections ,evaluative stage where the child is now changed his/her behaviour and have own creations of his/her own vision and solutions.
In conclusion the child shares experiences with peers and others in general . Then refers in the written scripts,texts,articles,literatures and other important records which finally help her/him to make own consolidated conclusions ,views and solutions backed by the other information.
